Elearning! Learning Leaders Awards — Congrats to NSTA

Awards for educational and online learning are often bestowed on corporations, so when I see an association does to recognized for the hard work it does for the benefit of its members, I applaud long and hard.
Congratulations to the National Science Teachers Association, which garnered a 2007 Learning Leaders award from Bersin & Associates. In recognizing NSTA for their Organizational Management Excellence, judge Leighanne Levensaler wrote, “The NSTA’s content strategy and standards ensures scalability and reusability, and its governance ensures representation and alignment.”
It’s hard to tell from the NTSA Web site (www.ntsa.org) how large the staff supporting the Learning Center is, but it’s clear from a quick perusal that their online learning presence is very robust. Though more could be lurking in the members-only section, they are offering frequent Webinars and instructor-led blended e-learning (a combination of off-line reading and online chat) courses. Their library of archived articles and other linked resources is vast and couldn’t have been thrown together quickly nor without a solid organizational plan.
Kudos to all at NSTA who had a hand in developing and building the Learning Center!
